Enclosure – Andy Goldsworthy
Andy Goldsworthy
Andy Goldsworthy is one of the
world’s most renowned land
sculptors. Thames & Hudson has
published numerous collections
of his work, including Hand to
Earth, Passage, Time and Wall.
A beautifully photographed record of Goldsworthy’s ongoing Cumbrian
project, whose power and beauty will ensure another big success
In 1995, Andy Goldsworthy began identifying a number of Cumbrian
sheepfolds – stone enclosures used for assembling, sheltering and washing
sheep – from old maps and reconstructing them to incorporate artworks.
It was a fraught process, but by 2006, thirty-five folds had been completed:
these form the core of Enclosure. Reflecting Goldsworthy’s lifelong interest
in the land, it is an exciting addition to his successful series of books.
